How much does counseling cost at Spark Counseling?
Spark Counseling ranges from 65.00 a session with an intern to 130.00 with a seasoned therapist. We are out of network with all insurances. We can provide superbills for possible reimbursement. We do not believe that finances should be a barrier to your child finding services. Please reach out for possible options, if needed. Do you take insurance? No, we do not take any private insurances. While we understand that many people would like to use insurance benefits, we believe that how a child/teen feels at a certain age shouldn't determine how they feel/behave at an adult age. We do not take private insurances in order to protect their confidentiality a little more. We are happy to provide a superbill (which does have a diagnosis code) for possible reimbursement. Should you need/want a superbill, your clinician will discuss the diagnosis along with the benefit and challenges of the diagnosis. Do you take Victim's Compensation? Yes, we do take victim's compensation from Arapahoe and Douglas Counties. Please let us know if you are using victim's compensation. Do you really work with early childhood ages and teenagers? YES!! We pride ourselves on truly specializing in child and adolescent mental health. This means that all of us have done specialized training to support children and teens. While we often use a play therapy approach, we will tailor the approach to fit the needs of the child or teen. What is play therapy and how do I know it is right for my child? Play Therapy is a model of therapy created specifically with children in mind. It is the belief that children's first language is play. Therefore, they process their world through the play. Each clinician is training or has been trained to use this specific model. The toys are specifically chosen to be in the room. While there are different models of play therapy, Spark will start with a child centered approach giving the child the ability to control their world in the play room. Sometimes, the clinician will get more directive depending on what the needs are of the child. This will be discussed with the parents. We believe that play therapy could be right for everyone. Sometimes, sitting on a couch talking about hard things is uncomfortable. It's less uncomfortable when it's experiential. What is the 3:1 ratio at Spark? We believe that the greatest agent of change is the relationship. Therefore, we want to support parents/caregivers as much as we support the child. Ideally, we like to provide 3 sessions to the child and 1 session to the parents. In the parent session, the child is not present. This allows the clinician and parents/caregivers to speak openly about challenges. It also allows a space for individualized parent coaching and techniques based on the child's needs. Do you have set office hours? Yes, we are open Monday through Saturday. Each clinician holds different office hours/days. While times may vary, often someone is in the office from 9am-7pm. Do you offer telehealth? Yes, we offer telehealth services. All that is needed is a secure location, an internet connection; we’ll send a secure link through the client portal. How do I set up the first appointment? You have options. You can call or text (720-295-3314) to have any questions answered and to set your first appointment. You are also welcome to email ([email protected]) or you may fill out the form found on the "Contact Us" page. What should I do if my child is in urgent need or in crisis? Spark Counseling not a 24-hour crisis service. If you are in crisis or having thoughts of suicide, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) for free, confidential support any time, or go to your nearest emergency room. For ongoing crisis care in our area, we recommend a center with a dedicated crisis team, such as AllHealth Network in Douglas County, Colorado. Do you have any additional resources?
